SAINT LOUIS, Mo. – The Missouri Valley Conference league office has announced this week's (9/9) women's soccer players of the week. Redbird Freshman Rylann Law was named this week's Freshman of the Week.
Law tallied a brace in last Thursday's 2-0 win over IU-Indy to secure the Redbirds' third straight shutout victory, which is the longest streak for Illinois State since 2019. Law's brace marks the first brace for Illinois State from a freshman Redbird since Hannah Mueller on September 19, 2018, vs Western Illinois.
Law's two-goal effort marked the first time the freshman has scored in back-to-back games and the first Redbird since Kelsie McLaughlin in 2022 to accomplish the feat.
With four goals, Law leads all freshmen in MVC in goals scored this season and ranks third in the Valley among all players.
