CHARLESTON, Ill. – Illinois State women's track and field team were able to end day one of completion of the Big Blue Classic in first place with a total of 70 points in unfavorable weather condition. Indiana State is in second with a total of 56 points.
One major contributor for the women was Brandy Thomas, as she captured two personal-best performances and won the women's shot put. In the shot put, Thomas threw a personal-best mark at 14.46m (47-05.25), which is leading the Missouri Valley Conference. She also notched a personal-best mark in the women's hammer throw with a toss at 50.06m (164-03), placing fifth overall.
Amanda McClain had another strong performance in the women's long jump as she broke the Big Blue Classic meet record with a leap at 6.00m (19-08.25), which is leading the MVC. Her mark is also ranked 11th on the NCAA West qualifying list and is ranked 31st in the nation.
Ariana Cranston posted a strong effort in the women's pole vault, as she placed third with a mark of 3.35m (10-11.75).
On the track, Jordyn Bruce ran an impressive 1:03.38 in the women's 400-meter hurdles and placed second overall.
Erica Brown ended the night improving her 5,000-meter run time by 16 second as she ran a time of 17:37.11 besting her previous time of 17:53.90.
On the men's side, Zachary Gregory had a stellar performance in the men's hammer throw as he heaved a personal-best mark at 51.47m (168-10).
Connor Ehnle posted a strong effort in the men's 5,000-meter run as he ran a 15-sub with a time at 14:54.06 placing 15th overall.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Ashley England had a spectacular performance at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival, as she ran a personal-best performance in the women's 10,000-meter run with a time at 35:36.27. Her time is currently leading the Missouri Valley Conference, ranked fifth on the NCAA West qualifying list and ranked 19th in the nation.
Cody Baele had a strong performance in the men's 10,000-meter run, as he ran a time of 30:28.26 and place 18th overall.
