A LOOK BACK AT MVCs

Illinois State wrapped up a stellar showing at the 2023 Valley Championships in Iowa City, IA last month. The Redbirds earned five gold medals, five silver medals and one bronze medal while Madyson Morse was named Valley Swimmer of the Year and Reyes earned Valley Diver of the Year honors. It marked the first time since 2010 that a single Valley school swept Swimmer and Diver of the Year awards.

In the pool Morse took home the 200-yard IM, 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard breaststroke titles for Illinois State while sophomore Emma Feltzer earned gold in the 200-yard freestyle and silver in the 50-yard freestyle. The Redbirds earned four relay silver medals at the Valley Championships.

Reyes earned a second consecutive 1M title on the boards, becoming the first diver in league history to win consecutive 1M golds as a freshman and sophomore. She also earned a bronze medal in 3M.
