NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State Track & Field is set to begin postseason competition with the 2023 MVC Outdoor Championships, hosted in Normal, Illinois by Illinois State, on May 12-14. The MVC Championships start Friday at 8 a.m. with the men's 10,000m.
The Redbird women will look to claim their tenth outdoors title in program history and repeat once more as outdoor champions, having won the team title for the last four seasons. The Redbird men have finished second in each of the last four MVC Outdoor Championships.

TICKETS
Single session tickets will be $10/day while all-session tickets will be available for $25 in total. All fans 2 and under receive free admission for the weekend.
Both the East and West sides of the ISU Track & Field Complex will be open to the public. There will be a cash-only line on the East entrance of the complex.

SEASON HIGHLIGHTS
On the women's side of competition, the Redbirds hold 47 top-10 spots, including six No. 1 spots, in the Valley heading into this weekend. On the track, senior Hassy Fashina-Bombata leads the Valley in the 100m hurdles (13.29), is second in the 200m (23.50), and is part of both the 4x100m and 4x400m relay squads which hold top spots in the Valley. Kayla Perry is leading the Valley in the 400m hurdles with a time of 59.55 set at the Drake Relays last month.
In the field, the Redbirds see three number one spots in the Valley with Mye'Joi Williams in the shot put (17.53m), Taylor Kesner in the discus (54.11m), and Zofia LeHew in the javelin (47.93m). In the jumps, Melissa Parrella (6.14m) and Danielle Taets (12.13m) maintain top spots in the long jump and triple jump, respectively.
Illinois State men hold 34 top-10 spots entering championship weekend. On the track, Raydoffa Braziel (46.61) and Enyinnaya Nwagwu Jr. (48.24) lead the Redbirds in the 400m with first and third place positions, respectively. Braziel also holds a top-ten spot in the 200m with a time of 21.27. Meanwhile, Jaylin Holmes is the Valley lead in the 400m hurdles with a time of 51.92.
In the 800m, it is Riley Wells and Joe Morrison leading the 'Birds with times of 1:48.48 and 1:49.44, respectively. Finally, in the 110m hurdles, Brandon Ratliff and Dewayne Johnson hold top-five spots in the Valley with time of 13.98 and 14.14 seconds.
On the field, Amiri Buchanan enters the weekend in third place in the shot put with a mark of 17.90m and tenth in the hammer with a mark of 58.08m. Joe Boyer enters the weekend with two top-10 marks in the shot put (17.58m) and discus (54.04m), respectively.
In the triple jump, Leslie Fisher leads the Valley with a mark of 14.98m as Charles Cruse sits third in the Valley in the pole vault with a height of 4.38m. Cade Ward rounds out the Redbird field events entering the weekend in fifth place in the Decathlon with a point total of 5,252.
REGIONALÂ RANKINGS
In order to qualify for the NCAA West Preliminary Round, you must rank among the best 48 student-athletes in your respective event in the West Region. Currently, 15 Redbird student-athletes qualify with more on the cusp.
