NORMAL, Ill. – Junior Mye'Joi Williams took home the 2023 MVC Outdoor women's shot put, going for a mark of 17.45m (57-03.00). With the win, Williams becomes the first Illinois State student-athlete since 2017 (Brandy Thomas) to claim the title in the women's outdoor shot put.
ALL-VALLEY
Junior Joe Boyer finished in third in the men's shot put with a throw of 17.66m (57-11.25. The Arlington Heights native would tie with Southern Illinois' Cole Targgart with the mark of 17.66m, but due to Boyer's third toss of 17.36m (56-11.50), he is awarded third place as the thrower with the second-best mark.

In the sprint/hurdle events, 17 Redbirds advanced to Sunday's finals:

TEAM STANDINGS
Through two days of competition, eight men's events scored, and nine women's events scored, the Redbird men sit in a tie for fifth place with a total score of 29. The Illinois State women sit in first with 65 points, just ahead of Murray State's 63 points.
