Held the single season free throw record (94 percent) for 58 years ... ranks third all-time in career free-throw percentage (.853) ... also made 35-consecutive free throws that season, another record ... averaged 14.7 points per season during his junior and senior campaigns ... after his graduation from Illinois State, he became a successful coach at Chenoa High School, where he captured Midstate Conference titles in football, basketball, and track ... became superintendent for Ridgeview Unit District No. 19 in eastern McLean County ... received the ISU Distinguished Service Award in 1986 ... retired as the Regional Superintendent of School of McLean, DeWitt, and Livingston Counties in 2003 ... received the Senator John W. Maitland Jr. Commitment to Education Award in 2010 from ISU.
