During his three-year Illinois State wrestling career, compiled a 78-10-2 record ... as a sophomore, he went undefeated in dual meets at 177-pounds and was an NCAA qualifier ... moved up to 190-pound division for junior and senior years ... placed fifth as a junior in the NCAA College Finals ... finished seventh as a senior ... NCAA all-American both seasons ... considered one of the nation's top 190-pounders, he gave up only two takedowns in his final season as a Redbird ...also was a member of the football team from 1970-71 ... was the leading tackler at the win over Akron, who was ranked No.1 college division team at the time ... later became wrestling coach at Downers Grove North ... coached eight IHSA State qualifiers ... also enjoyed an assistant football coaching stint at Triton College in River Grove, Ill.
