ELKHART, Ind. -- The Illinois State swimming team completed five events on day one of the CSCAA National Invitational Championships at Elkhart Health and Aquatics in Elkhart, Indiana.
Only three of the six student-athletes in Elkhart competed in their respective individual events on day one beginning with sophomore Diana Walker who started the championships off for the Redbirds by clocking in at 5:02.40 in the 500-yard freestyle prelims. Olivia Gonder, another sophomore for the 'Birds followed in the 200-yard IM, posting a time of 2:04.02 to take 28th in the prelims before freshman Emma Feltzer wrapped up the day one individual events in the 50-yard freestyle prelims with a time of 24.05 seconds.
In their first of three relays of the weekend, Illinois State's 200-yard freestyle relay of Madyson Morse, Gonder, Feltzer and Walker just missed the top-20, combining for a time of 1:34.85 to take 23rd in the event. In the 400-yard medley relay, Cassidy Carey, Morse, Lauren Naeger and Gonder recorded a time of 3:48.54 to place 24th overall.
